It won't harm anyone or anything without depressing the yellow button. One day last summer, when outside visiting with neighbors I brought this zapper out to get rid of pesky flys. The kids that were outside thought it was the best thing ever and they all wanted to take turns trying to kill the flies. It really works and you hear a ZAP and see a spark as the bug is ZAPPED.     I had one of these probably five or six years ago and only had to replace it because I lost the charging cord, it was the original USB. They work great, I don't know about the battery one yet but I've had it for a couple months and it seems to be going strong. I absolutely love zapping flies! I am so surprised at how resilient they are, you can swap one here at good zapped and see it get up and fly away. So, now I take no chances and I cover the fly that's on the ground or windowsill, and hold the zapper over it and fry them until they're crisp.

    I'm thinking of buying another one, because when I'm out back I have to run all the way to get the zapper, I'll have one in each room and be covered ♥️.

    Bought this because I got tired of the fruit flies or little flying insects that are inhabiting my home. They seem to come through the screens or they found some other way of getting in and its annoying. Gunna have to hire an exterminator to find these entryways. Anyway this works great for the most part but it seems to be a bit difficult to get some of the small insects. Either the openings are too big or they just seem to evade my swattings.

    The small ones seem to disintegrate or bounce off and I caught a few bigger ones that end up getting caught in the net. If you keep the button pressed down the net basically fries the bug to the point where you get a burning smell. At least it shows the zapper works well.

    If the batteries are low the net tends to malfunction and it'll act as if there was bugs getting caught. But in actuality I guess this device doesnt really tell you when its time to change out the batteries. This is great for outdoors and jeez I catch a ton of bugs with this thing. It's like a rapid fire of popping noises like its the 4th of July. It's not quiet either as it echoes in certain areas inside my condo. Overall Its great the only bad thing about this is the battery installation, it's hard to get the batteries in and out with it being so far in. The manufacturer needs to design this better.

    I bought this does the horse flies by our pool! Works well and it's fun! Be super careful if is quite powerful, you don't want to accidentally press the button and touch something/someone. Thankfully there is a wire mesh before the zapping area to prevent that but still.

    Have had this for less than 2 months and it only works intermittently when it does it's fantastic but I'm on my 4th set of batteries (energizer) the battery on the left side of the compartment is extremely difficult to remove but then the batteries move in the Compartment breaking connection with the contact so it stops working when you're trying to use it. When it's not cooperating you have to open the battery Compartment and push the batteries back in. It would be a 5 star review if it worked all the time.

    This is such a great tool to make those mosquitoes die a snap, crackle, and pop kind of death. We are deep in mosquito season and since my dogs go in and out throughout the day, so many of the blood suckers get in the house. My tennis swing is really getting good. Sometimes there are so many pressed up against the windows and door that I go outside and zap them until the smell of roasting bugs becomes overwhelming. This product is great, but apparently some animals can’t take the sound or swinging racket. My sister can’t use hers because her dogs freak out, but my six animals are fine with it. I wish I would have had this when I lived in Alaska. The battery life is also exceptional.
