One thing to keep in mind: there isn’t a pre-existing drainage hole. The bottom does have a plug, but that's from the manufacturing process. If you want drainage, you'll need to drill a hole yourself. There are markers on both the inside and outside of the bottom to guide you.

This is a pretty nice, large, plastic pot with a concrete or stone finish that looks really nice on my patio. The description says it stands 14" tall, but the interior planting space is only about 11". There is a decent cavity between the bottom of int inside of the pot and the bottom of the pot itself. This makes it a little top-heavy, and with the material being lightweight plastic, I would avoid planting tall trees or plants in it for fear of them falling over. I put some large, heavy, low cacti in it, and it feels secure and stable. It comes without drainage holes drilled, but there are clear markings where to drill them. I decided to drill through both layers, the bottom of the planting compartment, and then the bottom of the pot itself so water could exit the pot. You could also just drill through the bottom of the planting area and let water collect in the gap. This would create a self-watering pot, but I worry about the water trapped in the gap getting moldy. I really like the look of this pot. It feels well made and doesn't look cheap like some plastic pots do. That said, it's a little pricey ($115 for the 20" at the time of order). I'm not a fan of the large gap, which creates a high center of gravity, and how lightweight it is. I wish it was a little more sturdy to avoid tipping.

This simple vase adds the right touch to my new patio. The patio has a black trim, so this black planter goes very well with it. I need to find complementary decorative grass to put in it. I like that I can drill a drainage hole in the bottom and drain it right off the patio.
The acrylic is thick but lightweight. I have no worries about it cracking since it seems strong. I plan to leave it outside over the winter since it should withstand the cold and expansion. I'm pleased with this beautiful and simple vase.

I appreciate having outdoor planters that have a reservoir on the bottom to collect excess water without needing a drip tray, which for me tends to attract mosquitos in the standing water. With this planter and after I’ve drilled the desired number, size and location of drip holes I want thru the barrier into the storage tank below, the water will remain available to the bottom soil keeping it moist and coaxing the roots to grow deeper (Better than any drip system I’ve used). It should be noted this is one of the deeper reservoirs I’ve encountered, measuring 3”. So, when the height (for my 16” round) says the planter is 14” tall, it’s more like 11” for planting purposes. The inverted honeycomb design is attractive in the grey slightly textured resin, and blends well with other faux concrete pots I have in my garden. The product description says “…you can lift with one hand” which is certainly true when empty. But even filled with plant and dirt, it’s still manageable for me alone to move. Which will be key: I’m trying to revive a hydrangea plant that I stupidly paid full price for because it was the only one with the flower color I wanted. So much for getting better pricing at box stores. That goes for this planter, too. Given the ‘lightweight’ design and bottoms up self-watering feature, I think this is comparably priced and very much worth taking a closer look at.
