Heavy but porous paper

Heavy but porous paper
[Edit] Added some photos of this paper vs my paper of choice, Maruman Mnemosyne, added a "control" of premium printer paper as well. Close up shot included of heavy sheening ink showing the light reflecting off at an angle, specialty inks need to pool on the surface as it dries to a small degree in order to show their special properties. If there is no shine, then beautiful specialty inks will look dull and matte. What I used: Organics Studio Nitrogen (hand made in US, heavy sheening ink), Colorverse Quasar (made in SKorea, premium vibrant ink), Herbin Perle Noire (made in France, super well behaved black ink), Pentel Energel Black (made in Japan, my smoothest rollerball), Sharpie standard black (made in US, example of a very common marker ink), Pentel Ain Stein 2B (made in Japan, my favorite everyday pencil graphite). [Original] I had assumed that the paper would be half decent to be used with my fountain pens, but it looks like, even though it is "heavy weight paper", the paper itself is quite porous. You can tell from feeling it with your fingers. Under your fingers, the paper will feel rough. Good paper tends to be extremely smooth under your fingers. If you want good quality notepads/notebooks, I have found the Rhodia and Mnemosyne pads to be the best and most well priced options for top tier paper. I tried to write on this notebook with a TWSBI Diamond 580 Medium using a heavy sheening ink, Organics Studio Nitrogen, and it did not sheen at all. The paper just inhaled the ink. Instead of a dark blue with red sheen, it was just a monotone muted blue with a decent amount of feathering too. Nitrogen has a moderately long dry time, so it was very surprising to see it noticeably feather. I tried a ballpoint pen with my favorite rollerball ink (Pentel Energel Black Medium), and it looks to work fine for that. In general, if you need a notebook that you will be using a rollerball pen on, this will do the trick. The paper is very porous, to the point where it acts like budget printer paper with ink. Do not get this if you are planning to use fountain pens, as it will cause your ink to heavily feather and may bleed through for your wetter pens and thinner ink. It is very likely that absolutely no sheening nor shimmering inks will behave well on this paper.
