This wok is the holy grail if you are someone looking for a carbon steel wok that can use a removable handle that clips in, like the kind Ingenio T-fal (Tefal) makes (Yes, i m stuffing the keywords in there to help anyone who is out there looking for this on Search. Amazon sells them). You can find ceramic woks that are compatible with detachable handles, you can find aluminum woks with bad PFAS coatings that are compatible. But a carbon steel wok that would work... no dice. This particular one is a unicorn!
The reason this specific wok works -- and I've looked for months and months for this, no other wok thus far could do it - is that it has a lip at its edge. The lip is needed for the Ingenio detachable handle to have something to lock onto and stay safely on. 99.99 of all woks just have straight edges, so the clippable handle will not be able to stay safely on and the wok would slip out. But if there is a lip, that's the ticket!
When you receive the wok, you will see that the (factory) handle is not yet assembled onto the wok. So really, you just don't need to put it in, and you have about 2 inches of the riveted metal piece meant to screw in the factory handle that will remain sticking out, while you use your detachable handle.
The wok can get fairly heavy, and my suggestion is that you use *two* of the removable Ingenio handle, one on each side, if you have two at your disposal. Makes lifting the wok that much easier ...
