- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2013I bought this book to read to my four-year-old son and to read to my first grade class. It wasn't fast-passed enough for my four-year-old, but my first graders really enjoyed it. Wendy Pfeffer is a fine writer who does a great job of telling the story of a seed turning into a pumpkin. This book is factual, but offers a lighthearted manner in which to teach children a science lesson for the day, My students liked this book so well that they didn't even realize they were actually learning new things about pumpkins.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2013I bought this book for my classroom to help second and third grade students understand the life cycles of plants through observations of the pumpkin life cycle. Great illustrations and informative, yet interesting, text. I like the use of quality science vocabulary. This book doesn't speak down to kids and instead builds excitement about how a plant grows and matures. This book is a MUST HAVE for any science units on plants and growth.
