I used this to vacuum seal bathroom things to be shipped with my house hold goods internationally! Worked great! It also worked well with the bags you can buy in store at target. You do need to be sure to leave plenty of space for the sealing area. Pulled out the air and the seal was great!

suction hose adapter is not what you think
I was quite excited to use it for my opened wine bottle but the adaptor is much smaller than the diameter of the 75 ml wine bottle. not only that, but the adaptor is not intended to be kept on the wine bottle as one of the user videos claimed. it does not have an adapter to stop the air flow. it may suck but upon removing the hose, the suction will be lost. it is a straight hole and cannot sustain pressure. if you think you can use it for keeping your opened wine fresh, it won't do it. I am looking for an adapter so that I can use this to suck the air out. I have not tried sealing bags yet, but I assume it will work fine. there is a cartoon triangular prism in it which you should keep there to prevent gaskets get deformed.
