Cheap plastic
The pit of the cherry would move the cherry pit rod to the side and then it punched a hole in the plastic that holds the cherry. The plastic handle isn't strong enough to hold the rod to go straight once the cherry pit diverts the path of the rod. This cherry pitter is just cheap plastic. Don't waste your money on it.
