It is easy enough for her to start and stop herself and the sound level is perfect. She soothes herself to sleep and we were so tickled when she started doing it to wake up! - FIRST NOTES: Batteries were not included when they stated that they would be. Toy is soft, looks cute and should be fun as a birthday gift for our little girl. We will find out this weekend if it works like they say and I will update.

      My 4 year old has been on a kick of not wanting to sleep in the dark. We were going on a trip and would be in the car at night so I thought this would be comforting for her. She loved it! She slept with it at the hotel, and snuggled with it in the car. The music it plays is really cute, and I like that you can turn the music on or off but still have the glow. It’s smaller than I expected but still a good size for a small child. It also fit well in her car seat with her because it wasn’t bulky. I also bought one for my 18 month old and she didn’t care about it at all - she didn’t pay any attention to it and didn’t even want to hold it in the car.

      I usually prefer to give a fuller review on most of the products I review than I am going to give here. The reason for that is I'm one of those people who believe in giving folks a more in depth review so they can maybe make an informed decision before they buy. I'm not a big fan of reviews that are little more than "This is awesome" or "This thing sucks, don't waste your money." In this case I really can't say very much about this toy.

      I purchased this for my niece for her first Christmas. My sister lives across the country from me so this had to be mailed out for Christmas. Thus I obviously was not there when my niece received it. While my sister was still expecting her daughter I had seen this in stores and thought it would make a nice gift though I didn't pick it up until I did my Christmas shopping. I do recall a demo version in the store of it just lighting up and playing a tune, which was the big reason for me to want to purchase it for her daughter. And I did take a look at it after it arrived here and was surprised it was as small as it is. Playskool's packaging in stores seems to make it a little larger than it actually is if you haven't seen one out of the package. But I never played with it as I would if it were something I purchased for myself because it was always meant to be a gift.

      In this case my five star rating is more based on reports of my niece's reaction to it. From what I heard she was rather excited by this toy. Of course she was only about three months old at Christmas so wrapping paper was a big excitement for her. But of the presents sent out this one and one I'd sent for someone else apparently got her the most excited. For me that is all that matters in this case. She may not remember her first Christmas, but hopefully she'll have this for a few years and will have fond memories of a toy she received for her first Christmas.
