I wanted to buy my six-year-old something other than a pile of candy for Valentine's Day and so bought this for her. She and I both enjoyed it a lot. Pete realizes that giving Valentines is fun and makes cards for his friends and others in his life. The illustrations are great and the story is cute. I found the extras (cards, stickers, poster) to be a nice touch and didn't dominate the book.

We aren't Pete the Cat experts (just know one other book that we got from the library a couple of months ago), so we didn't have specific expectations as to what it should be like. So, other reviewers comments about it not being like the others were lost on me. And I'm glad I didn't read them before buying it. I might have passed it over, but am glad I didn't. It made for a nice present for my daughter.
