About this item

Keep your feet warm and comfortable with pedag Solar insoles. Since you lose a lot of heat through your feet, these inserts are designed to protect them from frostbite during cold weather activities, like shoveling snow, skiing, or high altitude hiking.
The top of the insert is quilted, which helps to trap heat and keep your toes toasty warm. The middle layer provides most of the insulation, and is made of a foam with thousands of closed air cells. The bottom layer is made from a special thermal aluminum that helps to reflect the outside cold.
As there is no specific contouring or shaping, the insoles' effectiveness isn't dependent on bone or muscle development. European sizes go from 35 to 48, which fits standard US sizes Women 5 up through Men 15. Looking for something to protect your children's feet from the cold? Kids Solar insoles are sized just for them!
If your size falls in between, pick the next size up and trim to fit. This also includes narrow feet, or wedge shaped feet where the heel is narrow but the ball and toes are a normal or extra wide width. Just line up the instep of your foot with the inner curve of the insert, and trim the front and heel to match. Try not to trim them too small to prevent slippage, or leave too big to avoid cramping in the shoe.
Due to some of the materials used, these insoles are not washable. They are 0.16 inches thick. Depending on the kind of shoe you want to use them in, they can reduce the amount of space for your foot. It is recommended you wear them in closer fitting shoes around your home for at least 30 minutes before going out. If they feel uncomfortable, you may need to try a different style of footwear.

Pedag SOLAR: The winter insole that provides effective insulation. 3 layers of insulation combine to keep body heat from escaping through the soles of your shoes or boots. The upper layer is pure quilted wool which is durable, comfortable and provides a little warmth. The middle layer traps body heat with thousands of air bubbles encapsulated in high tech foam. The bottom layer is a special aluminum reflector that keeps cold from penetrating and heat from escaping. Solar keeps feet warm yet it is thin enough to fit into most normal comfort type shoes and boots. Solar is a flat insole that will also provide a little cushioning. WARMTH
This insole is thin but warm, which is exactly what I was looking for. When they arrived, I put an insole in one shoe but not in the other, to test and see if I could feel a difference. There was a very definite difference, and the foot with the insole was much warmer.

SOFTNESS
The wool top is a lovely, soft wool, so no scratchiness against your bare skin (I don't wear socks). It also nicely wicks any moisture away, so your feet stay dry.

THICKNESS
The insole is surprisingly thin, so it fits even in shoes where there is not a lot of extra room.

STABILITY
I was worried that the insoles might move around too much, since the shoes I wear them with are slip on and fairly snug. Or that the insole might try and come out every time I pulled my foot out of the shoe. Neither issue has occurred. The silvery side (the bottom) has a little bit of stickiness to it, which seems to be enough to keep it from moving around, but the insole can still easily be removed if needed.

WIDTH
After reading so many reviews here that said the insole was narrow, I tool their advice and sized up 3 sizes and also bought a men's size (even though I am female), thinking the mens sizes might run wider. The result is that that I ended up with an insole that is wide enough at the front in the toe box/ball area, and about 1/2 inch too long (I just cut off the excess at the heel with a regular pair of scissors). However, this insole is pretty NARROW in the arch area in particular. There is a gap in the arch area where the insole does not cover the foot bed that is about 1/2" wide at the widest point. Almost like the insole is designed for a woman's high heel dress pump. I happen to have high arches, so while I can see the gap when I look inside the shoe, I don't feel the gap because of my high arches. If you have flat feet, it might be a different story, and feeling the gap might be bothersome.

COLOR
Ivory beige does not seem like a preferred insole color to me, it seems like it can easily get dirty and look grimy. I wish it came in a dark color, like brown, gray or black. There are no washing instructions on the packaging (although it does not say not to either). While the wool part should be washable, I would be concerned that washing the insole could remove the stickiness from the silver side that helps it not move around. I suppose we shall see.

SUMMARY
I love these insoles. Warm and thin, which is what I needed. The quality of the materials, design & general construction deserves 5 stars, but I am taking off one star because of the absurdly narrow width in the arch. I suggest buying at least a couple sizes larger than you usually wear, and trimming it to fit with regular scissors.

I bought women's size 10 insoles to go in a pair of size 40 Ovation winter paddock boots. The insoles are both too short and too narrow for the boots. They are especially narrow through the arch area, narrower than most feet I would think. This is disappointing because they appear to be very well constructed of quality materials, and I would imagine provide good insulation. I missed my return window so hopefully I can use them in a pair of dress boots. I would not recommend these particular insoles if you want them for any type of work or serious outdoor footwear.
