BEGINNERS & SEASONED COOKS!
This Book is awesome! This book is good for anyone who wants a good cookbook, training, once new experiences. I consider myself a seasoned cook and a baker, and this book does a fabulous job of explaining, teaching, and picture guides to help. I compare this book to my McCall cooking school cookbook and the joy of cookie cookbook. The plus for this book is that there are plenty of photos for pretty much 98% of the recipes that are in here. That gives you a good idea of what your food should look like when you’re done. Also, there are many recipes that can be used with different additions but using the same technique and it’s all explained in this book. There are recipes in here that I would like to try, so so there’s something in it for everyone. This book is a keeper, even though it weighs about 9 to 10 pounds. It is the heaviest cookbook that I own. I will call my kitchen bible, by no exaggeration at all. Bon appétit!

    OMGoodness what a surprise. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this book to be this big, or this heavy. I was expecting a small book. Came via Fed Ex and once I opened the box I understood why. It is the only cookbook you will ever need. Pictures and comprehensive recipes for everything. All of them. WOW! What a cookbook. Move over Julia Child. Oh this is one amazing cookbook you will use for many years to come. You certainly don't want to drop it on your foot. Set up an easel on a counter or table to follow the recipes. Absolutely fabulous content. Give this cookbook as gifts to everyone you know that cooks. Well designed recipes to make you shine in the kitchen. It is heavier than my heaviest cast iron anything. Worth every penny because the content is that good. Over 20 years of recipes from the show. If they add on to it, I would buy it. I have a bunch of cookbooks, but this one outshines the best of them. It is hard to explain. You have to see it to believe it. The show is good, but this book is better. I am so glad to have this. I also think if you slobber on the pages they will be fine wiped off lightly.

    Bought this as a xmas gift for my foodie niece. Might buy another copy for myself. It's a huge heavy book and as far as I can tell it has recipes for everything ever made.

    The recipes are fine, & very plentiful. The product reviews are handy too, & have influenced some of my other purchasing. The book is well organized, with above average printing & binding. More of an encyclopedia, than a simple cookbook.

    However, I'm not sure how you can call yourself a Test Kitchen, and make no references to high altitude cooking. ATK is in Boston, & located at sea level, no wonder everything works so well on TV. Minus one star for negligence in ignoring a most important part of science. 34 states in the US (over half by my 'rithmetic), plus much of Canada, & Mexico, are above 2,500' ASL. I live at 5,400' ASL, so the baking recipes in this book are semi-worthless, as they sit.

    This is a terrific, comprehensive cookbook that is great for at home chefs of all levels. I love that it has colored pictures and detailed explanations of why the recipes work. It’s been helpful in helping me understand why things are cooked certain ways. It would make a wonderful gift for someone just starting out on their own or as a wedding gift!

    I'm an old school book person and I love ATK's cookbook but must admit, it's truly heavy and unwieldy. Too unwieldy to be lugging around. I went looking for an ebook version of my ATK cookbook when I realized I was taking pictures of recipes with my phone rather than take the cookbook to the kitchen. Downloaded the ATK cookbook to my Kindle tablet and can also access it online on my phone or laptop. I still like to peruse the real book but ebook is much more practical in my world. Plus, it's cheaper.

    Sin duda éste es uno de los mejores libros de cocina que he comprado. Este tomo no se limita, como muchos otros, a proporcionar enormes fotografías, listas de ingredientes y breves instrucciones para la elaboración del platillo. Este es un verdadero libro de texto para aprender realmente a cocinar pues incluye amplias nociones de química y física, describiendo el por qué y el cómo de cada proceso. Calidad garantizada.

    Over 1200 pages is a beast of a cookbook. The recipes are concise and amazing. It will take me many years to get through most of them. Physically, it is a monster, and I can imagine an old biddy trying to manhandle this. Definately need a book stand. It would have been great if it had indents for different sections, or even a fabric bookmark to hold your page in case it topples over. If this keeps getting any bigger, I am not sure how this is going to end. I also think the binding isn't going to last long. Would have been better in a spiral manner, much better to fold over pages and have laying on your kitchen counter or in a holder. I just take pictures of the recipes on my phone and use that the day of cook. Much easier!

    Thanks ATK, definately worth every penny and appreciate your dedication and devotion to many years of testing and re testing and perfecting every recipe in here.
