Takes Some Getting Used To
This dash cam that straps to your rear view mirror takes some getting used to but if you can stay with it you will find that this dash cam is kind of a brilliant design. The night vision for the forward facing camera is excellent, the back one is OK. But to make this setup work, first and foremost you need to get the rear camera setup in a stable secure location, as it will take over as your rear facing vision. When the dash cam is active you will no longer have the use of your rear view mirror. Essentially this thing sits over the face of your rear view mirror. It is wider then your standard rear view mirror which is where the forward facing camera pokes around the side of the mirror when in position. The dash cam attaches to your rear view mirror with the help of 2 flexible rubber straps that are included, see photos attached, they show you how they fit to the back of the dash cam and how they hold the dash cam to your rear view mirror. It is surprisingly easy to install once you understand how the straps hold the dash cam to your mirror. The rear camera is designed to be installed on cars with sloping rear windows, but on a truck or SUV that has a straight up and down back window this rear view cameras bracket is not designed for that kind of window. I had to attach my rear view camera to the head liner above the glass, using double sided plastic velcro strips, see attached photos of the velcro I used, it is the kind they use for the ez-pass transponders. One good thing about these cameras is that you can adjust the angle of the camera inside the housing easily. When the cameras are powered on, on the left side of the mirror you will see little up and down white arrows. These allow you to adjust the angle of the camera up and down for both front and rear. That is a first class design ability I have not seen in a dash cam before. So having the cameras pointed exactly right is not such a challenge, you can adjust them through the mirror. The night vision for the front camera is excellent, the back one is good but not quite as good as the front one. If you have a very dark tint on your rear windows you may need to remove a tiny piece to let the camera see through the rear glass. This dash cam is powered using a cigarette lighter, no USB plug here. This is an excellent dash cam, with a huge screen that works very well if you can spend the time to get used to having it on your rear view mirror. If you can then you will be very pleased with the excellent quality of this dash cam.
