Highly recommended. Especially if for ring alarm users for seamless integration.
Very nice finish. Looks like real 18K gold. If you have a ring alarm, with the ring app. you can lock, unlock, change key code, battery status, assign key code to up to 30 people and schedule the time that the code can be used. In Ring App. history tap will tell you who get in and out at what time. The key code on lock can disarm or arm the Ring alarm as an option. Easy install.

I bought this lock because I had used the same lock without Z wave for years, and have been extremely please with it's performance. The lock is very easy to install and program, the batteries last a little over a year, and the lock has never failed, or given me a problem. When I saw that the new Lowe's Iris system was going to support the deadbolt version of this lock, and since both versions of the lock use the same Z wave module, I decided to try it out. Even though the Iris software doesn't show this lock as being supported, the lock pairs with the system, and works at it's simplest level. I suspect better intergration will happen when the software is officially updated to include this lock. At the present time you can lock, unlock and view the current lock status from the app the lock also writes to the log file when locked, or unlocked and the corresponding time. At the present time you can not program in multiple users, and the lock does not report which code was used to unlock the lock. The first lock I received from Amaozon had a bad Z wave card, but the whole lock was quickly replaced by Amazon, and the new lock worked flawlessly. I will be slowly replacing all of my entry door locks with these locks!

This Z-Wave lock is well-made, looks great, works with SmartThings, wink, and many other Z-Wave controllers. The battery life is great and dependent on use. It has great features like the ability to add multiple codes the ability to automatically lock and a backlight keypad. It's locked can we use with a Z-Wave controller or without quotes can be program from the Z-Wave controller app such as SmartThings or directly from the lock without a controller. It's a great lock to buy if you would like to future-proof your home but do not currently have a controller to use that the Z-Wave functionality.

This unit is easy to install and looks great. I have installed and used Kwikset 910 deadbolts before (presently have two) connected with my SmartThings hub. I was able to unpack and install this locking handle in about 20 minutes, including re-keying to match the rest of my first floor locks.

There are a few things I don't like; the external handle never feels tight. It's not exactly flopping around, but it's not tight. Also, it seems odd that the external handle is attached by an unprotected hex screw. A determined intruder could potentially remove the handle, unlock the door, and reattach then open the door. Basically, I wouldn't want to use this as my only exterior lock. I'm using it for a door in between an attached, locked garage and a home interior. A thief would have to get past an alarmed garage door or and alarmed window and would have already been on at least one camera by the time they'd even get to that door. Use this lock in that situation or in addition to a true deadbolt like a 910 or Kevo.

Pairing this lock was much easier than pairing the 910's, which can be an ordeal. The SmartThings hub picked this up immediately. It has responded to every command and program without fail. The 912 is located one floor below and about 90 feet away. For initial pairing, put it right next to your hub. Actual operating range appears to be pretty substantial.

I recommend this lock for a secondary line of defense when you need a ZWave compatible option. It's easy to install, pair, and operate. It looks good and should prove reliable if my prior experience with Kwikset is any indication.

I got so lucky with these. I found it on sale here on amazon for $39, so I purchased 3 of them. I had purchased 2 of the Schlage ones previously and love them too. However, I like that these come with a key too. I have a total of 6 doors in my house. These were easy to install it, they were easy to set up with my Wink Hub but because they are too far from the hub, the online option to lock and unlock the door doesn’t work. I have it all hooked up to Alexa but I haven’t tried that option yet. Overall I like these sets very much!

There are not many Z-wave locksets to choose from currently, so the competition is slim, resulting in less than stellar pricing. Fortunately, there are a few sellers distributing these fine Kwikset locks for well below MSRP and the competition.

I originally purchased this for my front door before realizing that it is not weather rated or intended for exterior door use, so I ordered the matching deadbolt from Kwikset. This one ended up going on our interior garage door. I liked them both so much that I ordered another of this model for our theater room door.

Using my Veralite controller (any Z-wave controller should work) I am able to use the more advanced features, such as assigning more than four passcodes, changing passcodes without having to be at the lock itself, receiving alerts when invalid codes are entered multiple times, or even disabling codes altogether via my phone while away from the house. The batteries last as long as advertised so far, and with Z-wave they even report the status so there is no guesswork involved. It was also nice being able to remaster the three sets to one key with Kwiksets integrated system.

I would definitely buy another if I had a need for it. Now if only they would come up with one for sliding glass doors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent lock

That's probably not the most secure lock in the world, but when you don't have a bolt, this is the way to go. Also, I suspect because entire mechanism of lock/unlock is in the housing, it less susceptible to extra cold or extra hot. Z-wave inclusion is slightly less trivial than other locks (via inclusion process of custom z-wave controls with Wink), but quick and painless. You do it once anyway and then it just works. Very happy with this lock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy smart lock!

This handle/lock is great. The apartment I’m renting only had a single hole in the door for the hardware and this fit the bill. You can purchase a z-wave controller card separately along with a wink hub (also separate) and be able to control this lock from your smartphone. As a key code only device it is solid as well and has the ability to auto lock after a minute. Happy with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid product, but problematic installation. Added to Wink Network of 70+ devices. All great in the end.
Reviewed in Canada on August 17, 2016
I'll start by saying that I really like this product, now that it is installed. However, there were a couple of installation disappointments:

    1) This is a retrofit into a door with a pressfit (round, hammer in to side of door) latch, rather than one that is inserted and screwed in via two screws and a latch plate. Every other lock I've ever purchased has included both options in the box. When I got to the point in the instructions that described inserting the latch, it said, "For a pressfit latch, call this number and we'll send one out to you". I called, and the agent was very polite, and indeed, without hesitation, he offered to send out the latch, saying that it would take up to 7 business days for me to receive it. So, needless to say, that was a big disappointment. What I ended up doing was chiseling out the outline of the plate, and therefore managed to circumvent the week-long wait. This was a terrible cost-savings measure on Kwikset's part.

    2) Wink pairing. I had to pair the lock 3 times, the third time via Wink technical support. The Kwikset 912 lever lock is not on Wink's "Add a product" lock list, the "program button" is a different one than is labelled "program button", so that part was a little confusing as well. The lock didn't want to unpair between attempts. (Note that I am a professional engineer, very technical, and I have paired over 70 devices in my home to my Wink hubs, so pairing is not new to me.)

I also purchased and installed 3 Schlage deadbolt locks. Installation of each of these took only 10 minutes each, including pairing. The Kwikset lock took 2.5 hours (including chiseling out the door).

I feel like Schlage is just a better company overall, and seems to know their locks better than Kwikset. Having said all of that, now that the Kwikset is properly installed, it's solid, very nice looking, and has functioned perfectly so far. I really do like it. We'll see how it responds to the cold Canadian climate over the winter.

3.0 out of 5 stars install instructions are good and it wasn't hard to do the install
Reviewed in Canada on June 22, 2018
So far so ok... install instructions are good and it wasn't hard to do the install. z-wave make sure you take the device to within a few inches of your hub, as it really does make a difference for pairing for some reason.
That's where the 'ok' comes in. The range on this is terrible!!! I believe its only Z-wave, not plus, but still... It about 10 feet from my z-wave controller through a window/wall and it randomly stops working. Moving my hub 6-12 inches has fixed it... so its very picky about signal strength.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything I had hoped for.
Reviewed in Canada on December 5, 2016
It was previously paired to another zwave hub, I assume this was done at the time of manufacturing or test post manufacturing. In order to pair this device with a new hub one MUST remove the old pairing using the provided instructions. This is a great product with which I've had no issues other than the install taking 30 minutes instead of 15. I have no complaints at all. Just a heads up to new buyers that could save them some frustration.
