Great style but there’s a learning curve. Tips below:
So I love the look you can get with this but it’s not the easiest to use. Here are the various issues I ran into in my three uses so far. Most of these aren’t major problems, but it can get difficult trying to deal with several of these at a time.1. Temperature: The heat setting is a dial with no markings. It’s great you can adjust it from low to high but there’s no way to know what temp you’re at or even where the middle of the dial is to find a medium heat. I plan to play with the temps and mark the dial with a sharpie at some point. I still won’t know the temps but at least I’ll be able to gauge where I want it. My hair is coarse and thick so low temps usually don’t cut it. I tried to find a med-high today and by the second layer it got too hot.2. It’s big and clunky - for obvious reasons - so prepare for your hand to get tired. First - because the wave is so deep it has to open very wide, and then you only have a narrow space to slide your hair in. To use it, you have to hold it closed to create each individual wave - so multiple times on each strand of hair. It takes a fairly tight a squeeze to do this, so I do one layer at a time and take a minute or two break between layers for my thumb/hand to rest. I have a lot of hair so I end up dividing my hair into 5-6 layers total, starting at the bottom. You need your second hand to hold the strand of hair so it’s difficult to switch hands once you start on a strand of hair.3. There’s a lock to hold it closed which is great for when it’s not in use, but you only need to squeeze it for maybe 3-4 seconds on your hair at a time, so locking it each time is harder and you risk not unlocking it fast enough and frying your hair. Some people might be able to do it, but I cannot. Using larger strands will get you done faster, but you’ll have to hold it closed for longer each time, so I found that’s worse. Small to medium sections are much easier, and it creates a better look anyway. Larger sections will create larger more uniform waves but unless you can match it on every strand, it looks better if they don’t line up so well. FYI your hair will hang a full inch or 2 shorter than your straight hair length - I was surprised by this as regular curls don’t make as big a difference.4. Which brings me to my next point - twist the iron slightly different for every strand. If you have it flat for one, make it vertical or angled for the next. This will create more of a natural wave than having a bunch of sections where the waves line up. Also having the middle wave of the iron face up or down makes a difference for the top layer. You’ll have to play with that to decide how you like it but it lays different at the root on the top layer - it can loop upwards kinda funny depending which way you face it and how close you are to the root.5. Burning yourself: Start on low temps so you don’t burn yourself. The size and shape of this thing makes it easy to accidentally numb your ear or hand. Because the wave is so deep, it will pull more hair into it as it closes. So if you start too close to the scalp, you may touch the scalp when it closes and burn yourself. Since there’s no way to know what temp you’re at, I recommend starting on the lowest or near the lowest temp until you get a feel for it. You also need to hold the ends of your hair straight out from it as you move down the section for the next pinch or it may shift or turn and give you funky shapes, and you can easily burn your fingers trying to do the ends.6. Practice first: Try it once or twice on days you’re not going anywhere or can wear a hat or pony tail. You may love the look you get the first time, but you may not. Given the many things that take some adjusting to figure out, it’s best to use it a couple times for practice first. I did mine at night twice - partly to get used to it before going anywhere and to see how it holds up after sleeping. It held fairly well but needed some touch ups.7. Touch ups are hard to do - this may be a one day style lol If you want to redo it you have to make sure you hold the thing in the same position and squeeze it in the same places on each strand or you’ll be putting waves between previous waves and in different directions and it’s not a good look. It can be done for a few strands to touch up, but would be really difficult to redo your whole head.8. Heat safe surface: The iron part will sit directly on whatever surface you have, so you’ll need a heat safe mat or silicone holder or something. There’s no stand to keep the barrel part elevated. I have silicone holder things that I got on Amazon and love. (They’re called mDesign Silicone Heat-Resistant Hair Care Styling Tool Mat Tray if you want one.) It seems like this should have something to elevate it, but with it’s size and shape I’m not sure how that would work. Maybe a bigger tip with a fold out stand? That reminds me - part of the tip gets kinda hot and it’s very narrow in places so be careful if you try to grab it. You may touch metal where the plastic is to narrow, or you may burn yourself on the plastic bc it can get hot in places. I’ve tried to pinch it there to hold it closed and relieve my other thumb, but you have to grab it just right and it’s a very small part you can hold onto, or you’ll burn your fingers. So overall I like the look you get, but it’s definitely something that takes some practice and getting used to. Each of these issues are fairly minor on their own, but you deal with several of them at a time, on every strand of hair which can make it tough to use.Photos:-That style was when I styled it at night and touched it up in the morning after sleeping on it. My hair looked a little crazy to me at first, (prob bc I’m so used to smoother, more controlled curls) but I wore it out anyway and actually loved it!-This is the silicone holder thing I have. This iron fits nicely even though it’s big and clunky. I have it locked closed in this photo, seems like that’s what the lock feature is for. (Flat irons, curling irons, wands, etc. all fit nicely in these silicone things.)

I don't usually write reviews, but after using this waver I immediately decided to write a review. This is hands down the best styling tool I have ever used on my hair!!! It is idiot proof. I have watched you tube videos on how to use a curling iron and I simply don't have the patience to learn the technique. I saw friend of mine the other day and her hair had the prettiest waves. I asked her how she did it, and she told me she used the Bed Head Wave Artist and sent me a you tube video to watch. It looked easy and the price was very reasonable, so I bought it. I really did not have a lot of hope for it because I am just not patient enough to do my hair. I just used it and it has created the most beautiful waves in my hair. As far as any hair product I used with it, I had some leftover Kenra Thermal Styling Spray No 19 in it and some hair spray from this morning, but that was 15 hours ago. I am simply AMAZED at how easy it was to use!!! You don't have to have any special skill to use it. Just put your hair between it, wait about 10 seconds, release your hair, and move down the strand until you get to the bottom. Then move onto the next one. It has a high, med, and low heat setting, and I used the medium. The whole process took about 30 minutes. I have never been able to make my hair look this. My hair is thick, but fine. Because it is fine, I have always had trouble making it curl or wave. Well, this styler did it. I am not sure how long it will last, but I will report back if I can figure out how to edit this review to add that information. If I could give it 10 stars I would.

    Edited to Add:
I washed my hair and used the waver the next morning. I sprayed Kenra #6 Dry Texture Spray on my hair. Then I took sections of my hair and used the waver. After I finished all my hair, I sprayed it again with the Kenra Spray. My hair has never held curl that I have put in it with a curling iron for more than 2 hours, but these waves held all day long! Even after sleeping on my hair all night, I still had some waves the next day. They were not as pronounced, but they were there. I cannot get over effective this tool is on my fine hair. The only problem I had was the location of the on/off button. I accidentally turned the waver off while using it, but if you will just placed your fingers on the indicated location on the tool, you won't turn it off. There are not enough stars for how many I want to give it. It is AWESOME!!!!!

My hair is coarse and thick so low temps usually don’t cut it. I tried to find a med-high today and by the second layer it got too hot.

    2. You need your second hand to hold the strand of hair so it’s difficult to switch hands once you start on a strand of hair.

    3. FYI your hair will hang a full inch or 2 shorter than your straight hair length - I was surprised by this as regular curls don’t make as big a difference.

    4. Which brings me to my next point - twist the iron slightly different for every strand. If you have it flat for one, make it vertical or angled for the next. This will create more of a natural wave than having a bunch of sections where the waves line up. Also having the middle wave of the iron face up or down makes a difference for the top layer. You’ll have to play with that to decide how you like it but it lays different at the root on the top layer - it can loop upwards kinda funny depending which way you face it and how close you are to the root.

    5. You also need to hold the ends of your hair straight out from it as you move down the section for the next pinch or it may shift or turn and give you funky shapes, and you can easily burn your fingers trying to do the ends.

    6. It held fairly well but needed some touch ups.

    7. Touch ups are hard to do - this may be a one day style lol If you want to redo it you have to make sure you hold the thing in the same position and squeeze it in the same places on each strand or you’ll be putting waves between previous waves and in different directions and it’s not a good look. It can be done for a few strands to touch up, but would be really difficult to redo your whole head.

Each of these issues are fairly minor on their own, but you deal with several of them at a time, on every strand of hair which can make it tough to use.

    Photos:
-That style was when I styled it at night and touched it up in the morning after sleeping on it. My hair looked a little crazy to me at first, (prob bc I’m so used to smoother, more controlled curls) but I wore it out anyway and actually loved it!
-This is the silicone holder thing I have. This iron fits nicely even though it’s big and clunky. I have it locked closed in this photo, seems like that’s what the lock feature is for. (Flat irons, curling irons, wands, etc. all fit nicely in these silicone things.)

product works gives great waves. But think you'd need a product to keep curl wave set.
I have curly hair already but wanted to control with more waves. It does do the job. However too heavy and clumsy to handle. As a result burnt my forehead slightly. Not worth the stress and struggle for me. Had to return.

The waver makes pretty good waves but you need to be very careful !! When I was clamping the waver shut it started to hurt my wrist so I moved slightly and burned the side of my face !!!!

I liked it. It is worth it. Just use any hair mousse and run it through your hair and then use the tool for waves to stay in place. Waver is good. Buy a separate three pin for plugs attached to it. It was delivered in three days with blue dart. Thanks
