This Samsonite Freeform 2-piece set, purchased back in August, has now been put through its paces and has proven to be an exceptional travel companion (for someone other than myself, though!). Let me explain:
I purchased this Samsonite Freeform Hardside Expandable 2-Piece Set with my daughter in mind, as she was about to embark on her year-long study abroad adventure. Needing a new carry-on myself, I decided to invest in this bundle. The price was surprisingly affordable for Samsonite, so I opted for the stylish navy color.
The moment I laid my hands on these suitcases, I was impressed by their lightweight design. Despite their spacious interiors, they feel surprisingly light when fully packed. The smooth-rolling spinner wheels glide effortlessly, making navigating busy airports a breeze. The expandable feature is a game-changer, allowing for extra packing space. The built-in TSA-approved locks provide peace of mind. The interior compartments are well-designed, making packing and unpacking a breeze. The telescopic handle is sturdy and extends smoothly, making it easy to maneuver the suitcase.
Unfortunately, my joy was short-lived. My daughter, smitten with the Samsonite's sleek design and effortless maneuverability, claimed my carry-on as her own. She justified her theft by claiming she needed it for her frequent weekend trips. I guess she couldn't exactly "find herself" without a stylish suitcase!
While I initially mourned the loss of my beloved carry-on, I can't deny the quality and functionality of Samsonite luggage.
Overall, the Samsonite Freeform Hardside Expandable 2-Piece Set is a fantastic investment for frequent travelers. If you're looking for luggage that can withstand the test of time and make your travels more enjoyable, I highly recommend this set. Just be prepared to defend your luggage from family members who may have a sudden case of "luggage envy."

Warranty Claim
I have used the large roller bag twice. On the primary compartment zipper, the zipper pull came off and was lost. I do not know when or how it came off. I contacted Samsonite because product is advertised as having a 10-year limited warranty. After completing an online form, taking/sending photos of the luggage and damaged area, and writing a lengthy email, this is the response I got today (10 March 2024 -- less than ONE year after purchase):<copied/pasted verbatim> "Thank you for contacting us. We sincerely apologize for the difficulties you are experiencing with your main zipper pull. Unfortunately, the necessary parts are not available at this time. However, we are committed to assisting you. The next step is to send your product to our authorized repair center for warranty evaluation. The repair center will assess your product, and you may receive one of the following outcomes: 1. If the product is repairable and covered under warranty, it will be repaired at Samsonite's expense and returned to you. 2. If the product is not repairable but is covered under warranty, you will receive an email regarding a comparable warranty replacement at no cost to you. 3. If the product is repairable but not covered under warranty, you will have the option to have it returned to you un-repaired or repaired at your own expense. The Authorized Repair Center will communicate this via email. 4. If the product is not repairable and not covered under warranty, you may choose to have it returned to you un-repaired or request that the Authorized Repair Center dispose of the product. For more details on the process and to create your repair ticket, please visit: https://shop.samsonite.com/service-repairs.html. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your continued loyalty," I would like to point out the nearest "authorized repair center" is 185 miles from my home. And quite frankly, I can't believe that Samsonite doesn't have a replacement zipper pull they could send USPS! Quite frankly, I am disappointed. Samsonite has also been a quality brand in my mind; this has left a sour taste in my mouth. Buyer beware. Updated 3/28/2025 to add: The nearest Samonsite store is 185 miles from my home. The nearest authorized service center is in the next state. I called UPS -- the cost of buying two boxes from them (to put together to squeeze in the suitcase since I no longer have the box it came in) + the shipping is estimated at $200 plus tax. The same item is still available on Amazon for $209.99 plus tax. Samsonite will not send a prepaid postage label to return the item. I love the suitcase and its companion the 21" bag. It's a great suitcase. However, I no longer can lock it and without the second zipper pull it is difficult to close. My advice before ordering this brand is to go to their webiste and determine where the nearest store and/or authorized service center is to your home. If warranty repair or replacement is necessary, it may be cost prohibitive to return it. Bummed.
