Editorial Reviews

Bobby Rush and Kenny Wayne Shepherd were born about 44 years and miles apart. Several decades later after the two forged their own path in music and the blues, it seemed like an idea that had been waiting to happen. For over 100 years, blues music has inspired, comforted and spoken to the truth. YOUNG FASHIONED WAYS has managed to accomplish all of that and more. Shepherd notes, “Once Bobby and I got together, it felt like going home," with Rush adding, "I've been waiting a long time for something like this to come knocking.” Kenny Wayne Shepherd is a multi-platinum recording artist with five Grammy nominations, several Blues Music awards, among many other awards and accolades. Bobby Rush is a 3x Grammy winner and Blues Hall of Famer with his most recent Grammy win for his last album All My Love For You.”

Sometimes a collection of music hits perfectly track after track. If you like foot stompin' blues replete with sizzling guitar including some great slide work, harp blues perfection and vocals that could not be improved on, this will do it for you. Nice production and mix. Like a great meal that leaves you kicking back and satisfied.

This is not your typical KWS album. This album is more like his 10 Days Out album but, the songs on this one are original with the exception of a re-work of a Willie Dixon song. The songs are fantastic. Bobby Rush does not sound like he is 91 years old. He sounds great. It is nice to hear Kenny play some acoustic blues. Fans of the blues should pick this up asap. If this one doesn;t put a smile on your face, nothing will. Well done gentlemen.

I've listened to this a couple times and, unfortunately, I am not sure if I can say that I really like it.
Everything else KWS has done is awesome, but only ok

I had explored Bobby Rush once, with a 4-CD compilation. It was ok, but didn't grab me.

I have everything that KWS has put out. His blues-rock and rock are good, but I like his blues side best. This album ranks right up there, just behind '10 Days Out: Blues From The Backroads'. I'm really happy with it.

This one's also my favorite of the Bobby Rush I've heard.

These two guys did very well to hook up. I wouldn't mind them doing it again.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd never disappoints, happy he's playing with the older blues legends to showcase them to let the younger crowds know where he got his blues background from. Excellent album
