Knowing that I needed a griddle-style pan like this one and that it would get a lot of use and some abuse, I tried to cheap out. I bought a few discount, non-name brands hoping that I could save some money. But as so often happens in these situations, I ultimately ended up wasting dollars by pinching pennies. The cheap pans were uneven, and oil/butter would pool on one side or in the corners; and the construction was thin, so they didn't heat evenly and easily burned food. Finally I broke down and just bought this Calphalon, which really wasn't even that expensive, but as someone who grew up cooking (quite happily and effectively) on antique cast iron and pasta pots that that my great-grandmother bought as soon as she got off Ellis Island, it just stuck in my craw to spend very much on cookware. But you get what you pay for: this pan is perfectly flat, heats evenly, and cooks wonderfully. It's easy to control the temperature on it, easy to clean--I never put pans in the dishwasher even when they're labeled "dishwasher safe"--and about as balanced as it can be, given the design, meaning it's easy to grasp the handle and hold the pan flat and steady, even when weighted with food. I would definitely consider Calphalon for future purchases, even if it's more expensive than other options. I've learned my lesson.

My wife has purchased probably 15 or 20 similar pans over the years. In the end, they are trash far too soon, if they aren't returned immediately. This one is a clear WINNER. We use these for tortillas, bread, etc and heat distribution and consistency is a must. Cleaning is a breeze and it is built like a tank. I have very high hopes that we will not be buying another for quite a while. And don't look at the price, it could be done and still worth it in my opinion. I think my wife likes this pan more than the diamond earrings I bought her for Christmas last year. And I doubt this earrings could scratch this beast if a pan.

I purchased a full Calphalon cookware set a few years ago, which doesn't include a griddle, so I purchased this griddle when the surface of the griddle that I had decided to disintegrate. This griddle is slightly darker than the full set that I purchased and has a lightly different handle design, but so far, so good. The non-stick surface seems to be slightly different than the set, while having the same lifetime warranty.

I have only used their lifetime warranty products, and have no complaints with any of them. If this is something that you are interested in, I can definitely recommend this brand. BEST
