(April 11, 2024) So far so good. Have used most days of the week for the last 2 weeks and it is working exactly as described. Pros: The app is easy to use and has a lot of nice features. I like the customization option for the front light and that it shows the battery life. The cup itself is very easy to clean by hand, no staining at all if it sits unrinsed overnight. It will stay at a default temp of 135 F° if you don't use the app or don't have your phone (which isn't as warm as it sounds depending on the drink, but it is a very intuitive feature). Neutral: The cup will stay charged for 90 minutes without the charging plate which is good for someone who is at a desk, but not practical for on the go. However if you are drinking coffee, the flavor is best within 2 hours of brewing. Con: Only downside is when it's off it's not very self insulating. Your drink goes cold fast like a regular mug. You have to keep it on to keep your beverage warm. Also, the lid was an add on. For the price you'd expect it to include the lid. Overall giving 4 stars right now and will update after longer use. *** (UPDATE July 12, 2024) Took about an hour to get the temperature up to the hottest setting today (the fire symbol). For reference: the battery is at 77% and I always keep it on the charging plate while heating up or until just before it reaches a full charge. I've only had this mug since March and it shouldn't be this fickle after only a few months of use. Will report back here again if anything else changes.

    This product is quite impressive. While on the charger it will keep your beverage HOT all day. Off of the charger it keeps it HOT for 1 hr. While on the charger, it will heat up your beverage to HOT rather quickly. While off of the charger it takes way too long to do so. The product itself is amazing and I really recommend it for everyone who takes their time drinking and enjoying tea or coffee. I got this for my wife for Christmas because she constantly has to microwave her coffee because we have 5 children … but mainly because the 19 month old is demanding lol. I just regret getting a 10oz. I didn’t realize how tiny 10oz is because I assumed most mugs are 8oz. Wrong! lol. I am exchanging this for the 14oz. With the 10oz, once you put the coffee there’s hardly room for creamer and sugar (when it comes to a real coffee drinker). I gave it 5 stars because the product works excellently. The app is very impressive and fun (to me). I love to watch on the app how the T° of the coffee goes down immediately after pouring in creamer. I love it.
    You can customize the color code of the light on the mug and name the mug in the app. You can also set the T° you want your beverage to be going forward (set it and forget it). It’s awesome. I watched a YouTube video about the mug and the review said they don’t think it’s worth the $ although the product worked really well. That’s kind of an oxymoron. I think you’re getting what you pay for and in a good way. Your beverage literally stays HOT or (if you want) warm until the very last drop. I don’t often drink coffee or even tea, but when I do it’s Dos Equis lol jk… when’s I do I can’t stand where the last few sips are cold. I want to get one for myself except I hardly drink tea or coffee, just to show you how great the product is. I think the 10oz is too tiny. 10oz might not be as necessary to be in the size of a tech mug since it’s not much to begin with and can be finished rather quickly (although my wife still appreciates it in her lifestyle). For the real tea and coffee drinkers out there I highly recommend this product, but the largest versions.

    I love this mug. I work in a home office and easily get distracted with emails and I love how this mug keeps my coffee the perfect temp even if I get distracted with work. I will say, the battery doesn't last too long if you're not keeping it on the coaster, but since I primarily got this for an office it's not a deal breaker for me. If it's away from the coaster, it may only stay warm for around an hour, which is still a help in my opinion. Connecting the mug with the app every day is slightly annoying but not a big deal. I thought it would just stay connected after the first time but when I don't open the app and pair it every morning it doesn't get hot, only takes like 5 seconds though. Always room for improvement but overall I really like the mug. I've heard mixed reviews on the durability, so I'm curious how it will hold up over time, I also bought the protection plan just in case, but so far so good.

    The original review was accurate, but now that I've had the mug for 6 months (Originally 3 star), I have to reduce its rating... The mug itself is great, works well, and does what it says. It keeps my drinks at the temperature I set it to. The reason I'm reducing the rating here for 2 reasons.

    1) Trying to reach an actual person or something more intelligent than an automated help desk, is seeming to be nearly impossible.
    - To expand on this: I have been unable to find any contact information to report any issues I do have with the mug or software (I have no issues with the mug so far, but the software annoys me to no end).

    2) The software for the mug is so far below par, that they might as well just have a digital display on the side to show the temp and just set it that way.
    - Let me expand on this:
    a) If you don't keep your mug paired, ie: carry it with you 100% of the time, anytime it isn't paired, it forgets its pairing, and you have to go through the pairing procedure again to reconnect it. My car is a 2014, and the BlueTooth in it remembers my phone when I start it up, but this mug cannot.
    b) There's no way to override the heating to ON, if the sensor doesn't trigger to say the mug isn't empty, it won't turn on, even in the software Bluetooth connection. Through some digging, it states that it determines if it's empty by the significant difference in temperature: The mug is cold, pour warm to hot fluid in it, and it detects the temp change and determines it's not empty. I understand this is probably a safety feature to prevent the mug from burning out, but there should be some way to turn it on when you put room temp liquid into a room temp mug. (I usually make a batch of tea, and if I don't finish it all in a day, I use it the next day, I shouldn't have to microwave the first cup just to get it hot enough for the mug to realize it's full.)

    So in summary:
    -The mug is absolutely great, so far it's held up fine, with no chips/scratches. Works great to keep temp set.
    -Software needs a LOT of work. The biggest issue is the Bluetooth connection/protocol. I shouldn't have to re-pair it every day just to connect to the mug to change it from Tea to coffee, or some other temp for a different drink.
    -Better contact forms, for when you can't resolve the problem via automated help.

    I'm hoping that by rating this at only 1 star, maybe I'll get a way to contact the company, or at least they'll read this review and take the issues under advisement. Maybe even make a suggestions/complaints form to get these issues noticed so they know what to work on. Until I see a way to contact a live person, even if it's just email, or something simple, I cannot rate this higher than a 1. IF I were having a real issue with this mug (like it not working) I'd be out the money it cost me to buy it.

    It's for Right Handers, if you're left-handed, (or hold the mug in your left hand), the LED is on the back side where you can't see it (less of a problem while you're actually holding it), but if you set it down for grabbing with your left hand you can't see the LED.

    The software is a little glitchy. I tried setting it to Celsius for a little bit, then when I tried to switch it back to Fahrenheit, it wouldn't switch, I had to reset the app completely to default to get it back to Fahrenheit.

    Couldn't find a contact form for issues (like the above software glitch), or suggestions.

    I ended up buying another one of these when the coating wore off on the first one. Probably too expensive, but I tried a different cheaper mug in the interim and did not care for it. As clunky as Ember's app can feel at times, it was infinitely better than that competitor's. Just know that customer service almost never responds, no matter how many times you ping them. Sometimes I wonder if the company is not going to be around much longer, given how absent their customer service seems to be.

    The Ember Smart Mug 2 can keep your tea/coffee at the perfect temperature for hours, making every sip as good as the first. However if you like very very hot tea then this product is not for you. Because usually we like tea to be very hot. In short it does not give you a boiling hot tea. just enough to keep it not cold.
